50,000 Tweets! Have we tweeted?

50,000 tweets on, obviously, Twitter - is it time to go to rehab? I remember when I sent my first tweet back in August 2008 thinking that twitter was a fad and that it would be a waste of time...Little did I know...Twitter has been anything but a waste of time as I've met a whole truckload of cool peeps be it related to our ladies t-shirts, be it related to silver (one of my other loves) or everything in between..

In fact, I've come across too many good people on twitter that I can't even attempt to mention them.. I'd love to be able to and without doubt I have a plethora of @ symbols floating around my mind now as I'm running through all the names of people I've met but rather than me going on a listing crusade I think it would be kinda cool if those that I've tweeted leave a comment and say "me" (or, feel free to get creative)..I'll follow this post up then with a "shout out" post to all you good peeps who I've tweeted with and will then, eh, tweet about it so that the circle is complete...

40,000 Tweets - Proud or Embarrassed?

Since joining Twitter a few years ago I've been tweeting up a storm..The other day I happened to be checking my own profile and spotted that I had 39,999 tweets and so was able to mark the 40,000th tweet accordingly...But, 40,000 tweets - should I be proud or embarrassed...like, that is a whole lot of tweeting...if only we'd sold 40,000 t-shirts in that space of time hehe :)Anyway, let me know your thoughts on it - proud or embarrassed?...How many tweets have you racked up?

So, it's Friday which as usual means all out #FF madness on twitter which at times can be a bit manic and without much value. Today however, amongst the #FF and RT melee I spotted a tweet from my friend Chris who runs a funny t-shirt company called Rizzotees. His tweet had a link which led me to his Follow Friday blog post which proves to be the motivation for this post..

I think it is a great idea to kind of chart who your #FF's are at a certain moment in time so that you can look back and have one of those "Oh yea, I remember that" moments. I also think it's only a matter of time until everyone is doing FF posts - Chris you genius..onto my ffs...

@Rizzo Tees - needless to say he has to be top of the list, great guy and friend with some hilarious tshirts, a must follow

@RachelLK - This girl is a star. I can no longer access my facebook for some random reason and turned to twitter, she came to the fore and with some luck my a/c will be up and running again. Thank you so much Rachel..

@Seven Days - Seven Days are a top notch band from Kildare who are about to blow up. Check out their amazingly funky tune "Easier".

@365daygirl - is a seriously cool girl who happened to buy a tee from us a while back. It isn't our tee that makes her cool but her 365 Day Project she is doing to master the art of social media.

@tikiclaire - a real fun and friendly amiga from Mexico who understands my pigeon Spanish..

@richardtwomey - I don't have a lot of twitter peeps that I've actually met in person so when photographer Richard Twomey started following me it was nice to be able to go "Oh I know that guy"..Richard was in my brothers class in school years ago so I know him from there..

@teesinapod - is an online project I've gotten involved with recently that is going to be a weekly podcast aimed at helping online businesses which launches this Monday..

Also, if anyone has any ideas on how to contact facebook I would love to hear them so I can possibly get my account unbanned - until then I'm not one of the 500 million people on facebook - doh!

When Twitter Fails?

I'll admit I'm new to the twitter world but it has drawn me in, hook, line and sinker...I now admit that I get a sinking feeling whenever I'm greeted with the "Twitter is over capacity" or "too many tweets" screens - however I'm still not too sure why. At worst I might miss a few "secrets to white teeth" tweets, any mentions (@ladyumbrellaltd) will always be there for me...and I like them - say hi..

So, why does Twitter fail? I don't know - probably because there are, like they say, too many tweets going on for their lil ole servers to handle...that or the whale has put on some weight or one of those birds didn't pump enough iron for the task at hand...also their lack of coordination could be a factor...

When twitter fails how do you spend your time? I find the lulls in the tweet-a-sphere allow me a break from the barrage of non stop 160 character (or less) penchants ranging from the nuts to the nude (we all know br.1tneY whatever her name is) to the teeth whitening to t-shirts (I actually get a lot of t-shirt tweets, I like that). During these lulls I like to read about sports (I'm a huge Manchester United fan, anyone else?) and well, get the social "fix" over at facebook and on the LadyUmbrella fanpage - its a busy place and I like to stay on top of it..

My question then readers - how do you spend your time during "twitter over capacity" time? Any TV shows that you watch online to fill the void? some sweet music station that no one has heard of? Perhaps a t-shirt blog that you peruse daily? There is only so much sports news in any given day, please let me know - I need ideas for when twitter fails...
