Cough Cough Launch!

Well, it has happened..the big day has come and gone and I for one feel a bit disappointed about the whole thing..Poxy Murphys Law..

Some of you might have heard (or at least I hope you did) that we were launching our 2nd collection of graphic t-shirts yesterday.. Sadly, I was mad sick as we were launching and not able to tweet with the fervour I'd like to tweet with. In fact, by my standards, I did hardly any tweeting/facebooking etc and so for me, I feel like the launch was a flop...

Thankfully a few others took up the mantle and did some tweeting etc to help get the word out and I'm most grateful but I can't helping feeling a little bit cheated by the cold which ruled me out of action yesterday. Now, I have to wait until our next launch to see if I can redeem myself..

Although, the path to redemption will start here I hope..I hope that if you read this you'll take a moment to check out our 2nd collection and possibly press the big green retweet button up the top...If you are a facebook fanatic I'd appreciate if you could press the like button to help spread the word..Heck, if you want to buy some of our new designs you're more than welcome to do so, step into our shop :)

I personally think Elena has come up with some sweet designs for the 2nd collection and am gutted that I couldn't promote them accordingly..Anyway, lets see how things unfold..the fingers are crossed that the word will still get out to the masses..As my cold recedes I'll step up the promo effort and your help is big time appreciated...

Size Wise!

I don't want to say we are slow learners as that might be a bit harsh but I do think it's fair to say that our initial offering of ladies t-shirts was, well, limited when it came to sizes. We only had small, medium and large and the error of our ways is now apparent. We sold out very quickly of our larges but then our smalls (size 8) were the slow movers. Now, though, from what we've seen and your feedback, we've learned a bit and have gotten size wise.

We want everyone to be able to purchase and wear our t-shirts and are happy to announce that we finally have more sizes available. We now have five sizes, S, M, L, XL & XXL in 3 t-shirts from our first collection (Away with the Birds, Wise Owl and Sir David) and all of our 2nd collection will have the same increased size range.

To celebrate the extra sizes we kicked off a SALE yesterday and have slashed 5 euro off our prices (and coupon codes still apply) which will last until midnight on Sunday. Really, head on over to our online shop and snag yourself a t-shirt whilst the going is good...

And the Winner Is...

What Just Happened?
The last 24 hours or so have been pretty much magical..Really, that might sound like an overly strong word to describe facebook & twitter antics but for us seeing the magic unfold in front of eyes as people suggested our page to their friends was overwhelming..When we started the Race to 6,000 yesterday I really thought it would run for a few days..In the end facebook won and it took just 5 hours to cross 6k finish line..Twitter followed suit today but heck, everyone is a winner here :)

The Winners
And so, onto the winners..Between both facebook and twitter we received over 500 entries which is really staggering..The super computer could barely handle such large digits but when it finally came to terms with them it produced the following two winners...The lucky fan who helped us out on facebook and was randomly selected is Alison Doyle..And representing twitter the first name selected was @Sheamusx..Congrats to both of you..Please get in touch with us on facebook/twitter so we can get your tote bags sent to you...

But Wait, There's More!
You're help and support has to be recognised..You went above and beyond what we ever could have imagined and to thank you all we've set up a coupon code which will get you 20% off your order. The code is valid for the next 24 hours so get in there whilst the going is good...When ordering your tote/tee use code take20 at checkout for the savings from our online shop - we really want you to take advantage of this code, you're earned it :)

And so, that ends the fun and games for a while..We have lots of big things coming real soon (cough cough new designs!!) and can't state how important it is for you to join our mailing list so you don't miss their launch or future competitions...Thanks again to all for taking part and helping us out and avail of the coupon code from our shop now whilst the going is good...ole

Only In Dreams...

Regular readers of our blog may now be aware that in it we like to try catalog events that unfold within our little ladies t-shirt business...if you're not a regular reader that is what you can expect and I can only hope you find the mumblings interesting..like this dream like tale I'm about to tell..Prior to that though I suggest you scroll down and press play on the tune embedded below, "Only in Dreams" by Weezer - a lovely litte ditty..

Anyway, on with the story..The other day we received a pretty interesting comment on our facebook page from, well, one of our likers. Rather than paraphrasing I'll just copy her comment in its glorious entireity..

"I had a dream the other night that I was out shopping and found 2 different tee's from Lady umbrella in the shop. The designs in my dream aren't even ones that you sell so I'm not sure how I came up with that one haha"

That to us was a pretty amazing comment to get and as we usually do on our fanpage we responded..We asked if she could remember what the designs looked like...and, how about this for an answer..

"One was a grey tee with lady sitting on a bench on a cliff with her back to the sea, she was holding an umbrella behind her like a sun umbrella, the only colour was the turquoise of the sea and a silver logo on the bottom of the tee...........The other one was lady in a really trendy wedding dress (dress was knee length) her 'umbrella hair' was her veil and she was standing at the bottom of a path leading up to a church"

And so, now, we have some new design ideas but the thing that is really flooring for us is that LadyUmbrella is, somehow, in peoples dreams - that to us is pretty darn cool... Personally I can never remember any of my dreams so I'm impressed with the detail that was remembered in the above...And it also makes us wonder - anyone else have dreams which include some LadyUmbrella t-shirts? And who amongst us is a fellow Weezer fan? Ole...

Tote Bag Thursday & Cupcakes!

It's Thursday and we released our new tote bag yesterday so figured I'd write a short post about it and tell a tale or two...I also strongly advise reading to the end of this post or you can scroll now if curiosity gets the better of you ;)

The last few days in LUHQ have been dominated by the launch of our new tote bag, the latest edition to the LadyUmbrella family..We've been flat out trying to get the word out about our new bags for the last week and ran a great give away on our fanpage...

We had about 230 entries which is mind boggling considering we only ran the competition for about 48 hours..Have to say big thanks to all the retweeters on twitter - you know who you are (and we know who you are) - you are all champs..Needless to say our competition ran it's course and we got our winners..For posterity congratulations to Kate Canterbury, Joby Franzcek, Mari Richards and, last but not least, Josephine Thornton..The bags will be with you all post haste..

And so, who wants a bit of a story? There is a certain twitter user who goes by the name of @Danni2122 who has warmed the hearts of all in LUHQ..She came in to visit us on a Friday evening a few weeks ago in our shop in The Loft Market alas we weren't there when she arrived (we missed each other by about 5 minutes or so - Murphy's Law)..When we had found out that we had missed her we were insanely disappointed..Our humour didn't improve when we found out that she had brought some delicious cup cakes in for us! Cupcakes for us? - it really was touching..This random act of kindness was so bittersweet - we wanted to be there to shake hands, meet and greet and thank her properly alas it wasn't to be...

Since the day we missed her we've been wanting to make it up to her and as soon as we got our tote bags in we sent one to her and she sent us the above picture...For us we're still not content that we've made it up to her but wanted to try make an effort..I've said it before and will say it again, we are just 2 people, no big corporation, no big backers or investors, just 2 people with some hopes and dreams (probably no different to most people) and the support we've gotten from people is, well, mind boggling..People bringing cupcakes into us is another level and Danielle we are forever thankful..Come into us again some day and we'll be there - promise :)

And, now, what do you get for you reading (or scrolling) to the bottom of this post..Well, Danielle showed some generosity so figured we'd do similar..For those of you who read this and want to get one of our totebags (or ladies t-shirts) use code bagme20 now in our online shop for a swanky 20% off all of your order and of course, still free shipping...This code will only be valid until tomorrow night so snap it up and enjoy...

LadyUmbrella and the Merry Go Round [New Design]

It has been a while since we launched our La Primera Coleccion of ladies t-shirts (we launched them on 20th of January 2010) and since then we've been busy in the lab working on new designs (well, Elena has anyway). Today we unveiled one of our new designs from La Segunda Colecction called "LadyUmbrella and the Merry Go Round"...If you like it please press that lovely green RT button just above - it helps us out big time...

Anyway, all of our t-shirts have a bit of a story to tell and this one is no different...It reads:

The yellow birds look on with dismay as LadyUmbrella hogs the pelican, indulging her childhood love of the merry go round...Garrett, the adventurer, looks on from above and ponders his descent to the waiting masses...

We're really delighted with how the shape of this t-shirt worked out..like our other t-shirts it is 100% pure combed cotton which makes it really soft to wear. If you have purchased one of our t-shirts from our first offering they were 180grms in weight but the new collection are 140grms - so slightly lighter to make them ideal for the summer...

So, I hope what you're saying to yourself know is "I just checked the site but I don't see this design..I want it - where is it?" and I'm happy to inform you that we hope to have our La Segunda Coleccion available on our site before the end of July - not too long to go..please, bear with us :)

There are more pictures of LadyUmbrella and the Merry Go Round on facebook so do check them out..We'll also be uploading more pictures of the rest of our designs in the coming days so do check back..Stay happy all - ole!

In case you didn't hear we were giving away 2 t-shirts to celebrate passing 5,000 facebook fans and decided to try do something a little bit different to announce the winner..Needless to say this resulted in some tomfoolery in front of the camera and another misguided attempt at humour..We still managed to find our winners though and their ladies t-shirts are about to undergo the "packaging procedure"..

For those of you who didn't win - don't fret. We've got 20% off all orders with promo code lubday20 until June 6th from our online shop, buy yourself a tee whilst the sun is shining :) Enjoy the video "Voiceover for Victory" - like the dance moves? Stay happy...

Sunshine and Feeling 5k Fine [VID]

You are may not be aware that we are trying to get to 5,000 fans on our facebook fanpage - hehe, I hope you've heard about it ;)

Anyway, we are close now, closer than ever before, to 5,000 fans which is really incredible for us. There are only two of us involved with LadyUmbrella ladies t-shirts, myself and Elena, and we are just blown away by the support we have received. Since launching our fanpage in August we have honestly been overwhelmed at the response we have received and we are really humbled and thankful. You guys, the people who read this blog and leave comments on our fanpage etc, are giving us a chance at living our dream and words can't express how thankful we really are...

Even though words can't do our thanks justice and our video skills leave a lot to be deisred we have endeavoured to make a vid to give you thanks and a big thumbs up..

We basked in the sunshine for about 3 hours or so to record it and needless to say I got sunburnt - felt the heat radiating from my arms, ears, neck and face last night. Elena on the other hand though found it chilly at times...Irish skin is just not cut out for the sun I guess..

Anyway, enough of the talk, enjoy our vid and if you can press that great big RT button above - might just help us get to 5,000 fans before my birthday which would result in a partay and a half..

Vikings and Vietnam?

The thing I love about working with LadyUmbrella, living and breathing it every single moment of every single day, is the wide array of new things that happen and all our new milestones. I'm continually learning new things and really embracing this whole entrepreneurial thing - viva!..anyway, I digress, onto Vikings and Vietnam.

I'm a fan of watching documentaries of all kinds. Earlier this week I was watching a documentary about Vikings - the horned helmet wearing hell raisers from Scandinavia who pillaged and plundered all in their path. Shortly after watching the documentary we got our first sale in Scandinavia and have now had pleasure of sending one of our ladies t-shirts way north to Norway. Funny the way things work out sometimes and the intriguing coincidences that occur (remember Canada?)..In any event, I'm going to watch more documentaries now and see what other coincidences may occur..and please, press the RT button - might help make more coincidences :)

We also broke more new ground yesterday and can now place a LadyUmbrella flag in Vietnam which is mind boggling. I don't speak Vietnamese nor do I know anyone from Vietnam but somehow they found us and our t-shirts are now embarking on their journey to the other side of the world...We wish them a safe and pleasant trip..

It is a big world out there - I know this, I watch documentaries ;) - but we are steadily expanding and shipping to different countries and this excites us no end. Like I said at the beginning, I live LadyUmbrella, day in and day out, and having these mini milestones really makes it so enjoyable.. So, as they say in Norway takk skal du ha and in Vietnam cảm ơn bạn and to those of you with a disposition to English - thank you..

So, any coincidences happen you recently? Leave a comment and let us know..and care to hazard a guess as to what our next new country to ship to might be? Stay happy all and hope to have more milestones to share with you soon..ole

Bonus Batch Bingo!! SUPER SALE

Right now you might be mumbling to yourself "bonus batch what?" but I'm here to demystify and enlighten you...Basically, Bonus Batch Bingo is a chance to win a free ladies t-shirt...interested? then, I suggest you read on..

You may have seen our video "The Art of the Hangtag" where we explain that each of our hangtags get rubber stamped and then signed, numbered and dated...We are going to use the hangtags as the 'bingo cards' for Bonus Batch Bingo. Using the power of www.random.org we will randomly select one unique hang tag number from all of the t-shirts we have sold so far. Whoever this hangtag belongs to then has one week to contact us with a picture of the hang tag and t-shirt and to let us know which t-shirt they would like as their prize...then, we'll ship it to them - just like that...

So, you might be reading this thinking "but I don't have a t-shirt so how can I win one?" which is a good question. The simple answer is you can't BUT..to give you every chance of entering for a free t-shirt we have slashed 5 euro (about $6.75) off the price of our t-shirts AND if you have a coupon code you can also that ;) Why not get a 15% off coupon code? ...and yep, we still have free shiping worldwide!

And, Bonus Batch Bingo is going to be a regular occurrence and your hang tag will be entered into every draw - make sure you're entered for the first draw! If you don't have t-shirt get one in our online t-shirt shop and avail of the huge discounts and maybe even win another..The sale will start tomorrow (23rd of April) and last until May the 1st and we'll then find out who has won a FREE t-shirt..

How does that sound to you? Who is feeling lucky?

All Hail Sir David!

What a day! I have to catalog this day..I'm a fan of firsts, first sale to a new country, first sale of the full collection, first boutique to stock us - basically things that I deem newsworthy in the life and times of LadyUmbrella ladies t-shirts. Today proved to be another one of those much sought after firsts...

As usual it was a busy day in LUHQ as we were working on our new designs (oh, I said it! - coming soon, ole), networking with fine people and had a nice number of orders (thank you!) to pack..We launched on the 20th of January but today is the first time that every order we received contained a common design. We had lots of orders for 2 t-shirts and single t-shirts but every order today contained, you guessed it, LadyUmbrella is Friends with Sir David Attenborough - all hail Sir David. Perhaps a lot of folks came across the great review it got a while back from the awesome Loving this Tee blog - I guess I'll never know but a bit of mystery never bothered me ;)

So this is Sir Davids moment in the limelight and I'd like to tell you a bit about it. You may or may not know that each of our designs has a story that goes along with, for Sir David it reads:

"Both an environmentalist and conservationist LadyUmbrella is always trying to help the planet. This scene portrays LadyUmbrella raising awareness about the melting ice caps by scoping out the penguins three; Pat, Richie and P..."

As a youth (this is where it gets juicy so press the RT button hehe) I watched a lot of nature tv shows so naturally (like that huh?) I ended up watching and learning lots from Sir David Attenborough. His ability to give such detailed information about animals in, at times, compromising and dangerous situations with his trademark style and delivery was astounding. The thing that I learned most though I think from watching his shows is the ability to observe. The reason he was able to place his life in jeopardy is because he was alert, he was observing, looking for signals or signs of danger and threat and so was able to get some of the remarkable footage that he got.

Our "t-shirts tale" above is what came to my mind when I first saw the design Elena had done. We know it's not going to save the world but it is our tribute to a really great man and if some people read the story and think a little about conservation and helping our environment or make a positive change then tres bien. For those of you hungry for LadyUmbrella trivia the penguins three or so named because, well, it rhymes. On a more meaningful level though they are also 3 old skool (with a k) amigos of mine that I had the pleasure of sharing a stage with for a few years. In a former life I was the singer and guitar player in a band called Made in Taiwan with Pat being the lead guitar player, Richie the bass player and P the beat meister - some great times..

But, back to present times and I've crunched some numbers. Our online t-shirt shop has been live for 80 days and 80 nights - just about enough time to travel around the world...

And on that note, I bid you adieu wherever you are in the world, hope you enjoyed the tidbits of trivia (really, I do.. would love to hear what you think, leave a comment and let me know) and stay happy...

P.S. the second picture, with the typewriter, is our t-shirt on the set of the upcoming British movie Booked Out which is due for release later this year - pretty cool huh?

We Have a Winner!

What a manic few days it has been. We decided to give away a free ladies t-shirt because we reached a mind boggling 4,000 fans on our facebook fanpage. To enter into the draw all one had to do was let us know which t-shirt they liked or was their favourite...we didn't expect what would happen then...

People went crazy for the t-shirt..We've never received as many retweets on twitter as we did over the last two days..On top of that tons of people shared it on facebook and in total we got a staggering 189 entries - some great fun comments so thank you all for entering and spreading the word..

Anyway, when we decided to make a movie for the draw which you can see just below..Hope you like it and why not press that glorious retweet button in the top right :) Mad thanks go out to our independent observer, the man behind the Wise Owl, the one and only Skip.

As the video says we have a consolation prize for those who didn't win the t-shirt..For the next 24 hours the coupon code twenty24 will get you 20% off and free shipping so feel free to take full advantage of it in our online t-shirt store...

We Like to Do Things Differently!

[WARNING: THIS BLOG CONTAINS EXCLUSIVE CONTENT]
We like to do things differently here at LadyUmbrella ladies t-shirts as it keeps things interesting and exciting for us - and hopefully for you too...In the past we've had a few fun deals and promtions but we've been rather quiet about the big one...the big one which excites us the most and which we hope all of those who have already bought a LadyUmbrella t-shirt know about - Bonus Batch Bingo...And, for those of you who read this blog you're going to get to see our new video before anyone else because I like you guys :) We'll put it on the fanpage in a few days but for now this is the place to see it..

One of things at the very core of LadyUmbrella is our desire to give our customers something that is unique to them and that no one else will have. We try do this via our time consuming hangtags..Our hangtag, the card which usually displays some info about the t-shirt or product, has been transformed into a ticket of sorts into what we call Bonus Batch Bingo. Here you can see one of our 6 different hangtags (each t-shirt has its own hangtag)..And if you like the image please press the big green RT button in the top right - every RT makes us smile :)

Each of our hangtags go through a disciplined and dedicated stamping process. Then, as we receive an order Elena signs, numbers and dates the hangtag so that whoever buys it will have something that no one else will have...Here is our new video about said tags and you guys, our beloved blog readers, are the first to see it - let us know what you think!!

We then had the idea of Bonus Batch Bingo whereby we would draw a number at random which would correspond to one hangtag batch code and whoever owns that t-shirt will win one of their choosing..All the winner has to do is send us a picture of the t-shirt and hangtag (preferably with them wearing it hehe) or put it on our facebook fanpage within 5 days and we'll send them any t-shirt they want - just like that...

And that's that, our hangtags and how we are going to do things a little bit differently..what do you think? think it is a fun little idea? Any other ideas for fun things we could do with our hangtags? and what did you think of our latest video? Lets hear it...and, to get yourself entered into bonus batch bingo you should really go here ;) Stay happy all and have a great Easter..

Are you Canadian?

Ohhhh Canada!!

The world works in strange ways - we all know that - and this blog post will detail one such event that has got me scratching my head with bewildered delight...

We got our first sale of our ladies t-shirts to Canada and are delighted to be sending them to the land famed for it's maple syrup, hockey and pretty stunning views..One thing I didn't know Canada had going for it though were unusual and interesting place names..

So, onto the uncanny part of the tale. At the time of receiving the sale from Canada I was talking my friend Richie..Unbeknownst to me he just happened to be talking to a Canadian at the time, the relevance of that will become more startling in a line or two..

So, with elation and CAPS LOCKS I told Richie that we had got our first sale to Canada and that our t-shirts were bound to a nifty place called "Cloudberry Drive, Paradise"..I remarked at how cool the name was and how different it is to the names we have here like Baltinglass, Lahinch, Stillorgan, Tubbercurry and Termonfeckin (which probably sound pretty alien to some Canadians, ye?)..Almost instantly though Richie started to enlighten me with more interesting Canadian place names like Moose Jaw, Eyebrow, Elbow and Medicine Hat....Are they even real or was Richie being spoofed?...

Anyway, remember I said Richie was talking to a Canadian friend? (who he doesn't even talk to very often)...well, and it turned out that they happened to be talking about random place names in Canada at the very same time that we sold our first t-shirts to Paradise, Canada..To both of us it was uncanny and bizarre that our first sale to Canada just happens to be when he is talking to a Candian friend he rarely talks to about interesting place names in Canada..Uncanny or not though the fact remains our t-shirts are going to Paradise and I like the sound of that...

So, like the title asks, are you Canadian? Can you confirm the Canadian place names mentioned above or even add some to the list? Or, what about where you live, any interesting place names to share? Anything uncanny like this ever happen to you? lets hear it...

P.S. Press the retweet button on the top right of this post, its new and awesome ;)

We need YOUR Help!!

...and we'll reward you for it :)

So, the other day we had a ton of fun on the facebook fanpage and started off a bit of a "me me me" riot as we asked our beloved facebook fans if any of them would be able to help us out for a reward..

Well, here it is..We launched our online store about 2 months ago and want to get some feedback on it to improve it - we always want to improve. We have set up a short and simple survey which will take you no more than 5 minutes to do (check it out, loads of drop down boxes and stuff, real easy) and you'll help us out no end..

OHH..before talking about the reward, those with keen observation skills might notice the addition of a regal retweet button in the top right of this post..well, that RT button wants to be friends with you and really wants you to click it..go on, click it ;)

And now, back to the scheduled broadcast..So, for those who help us out we're going to lavish them with a whopping 30% off promo code that is valid until April 1st (and no, we ain't fooling hehe).

The way I see it is that it is win win - those of you who want to get a good deal get one and we find out a bit more about our site so that we can make it better (for you!).

I'd really love to hear you thoughts on our site and any suggestions you have so please check out our survey and get yourself a 30% off coupon...Also, leave a comment with any additional suggestions you'd like to give us..stay happy..

LadyUmbrella in 2,000,000 Newspapers!

The mind continues to boggle here as we continue to get mentions in the national press. On Saturday 20th of March we got a lovely mention The Irish Daily Mail "YOU Magazine" which is incredibly cool and unprecedented and we have to say thanks to Niamh O'Dea for wanting to feature our ladies t-shirts in it...

By my mere maths skills I estimate that LadyUmbrella has now been printed in an accumulated total of about 2,000,000 newspapers between all of the press we have received..that is a rather large number I think and it's kind of exciting to think that some of those pages where we have been printed will somehow linger around on buses or in shops or park benches..have you seen a LadyUmbrella newspaper mention in real life?

Anyway, before I go off on a hope fueled philosophical rant about LadyUmbrella in black and white here is the clipping from the Irish Daily Mail (in black and white)..

And so, there you have it..would love to hear if anyone has seen it in "real life" and your thoughts as to where copies of LadyUmbrella in "black and white" may be lingering - go on, get creative! ;)

Extra, extra, read all about it!

The power of Twitter was hammered home to us on Sunday when we were notified about an article mentioning our ladies t-shirts in the Irish Mail on Sunday..

"@sharonmcnally @ladyumbrellaltd No bother! Did you know that you are featured in The Irish Mail On Sunday TV Week?"

Needless to say we legged it to the shop to pick up a copy of the paper and low and behold there we were, listed in an article with 20 style tips. Many thanks to @sharonmcnally for letting us know, much appreciated. We were tip number 7 - "have some fun". There are 20 tips there in total - some quite useful ones as well (needless to say we thing tip 7 is a strong candidate for top tip) - so have a read of the article...any tips you'd like to share with us?

So, for two weekends in a row now we have been mentioned in national newspapers which is astounding. No doubt these are exciting times for us here and really thanks to all who have bought a t-shirt or told a friend about us..Lots more good times aheard and sush, but we're working on the next designs - stay tuned...

Please subscribe to this blog now so we can keep you to date with what's happening in the world of LadyUmbrella - fun times ahead...
